NASCAR weekend

October 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Jason & I went to the NASCAR race in Charlotte this weekend (first race ever) and it was awesome!  I thought I would hate it.  It was hilarious.  We went with about 10 friends and had a blast.

Ty’s room.. slowly but surely

October 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I had no idea it would take me so many months to paint his room!  It’s hard to find ways to do it while he is not there.  And he doesn’t sleep well in other rooms.  Finally (!!) I had a day off yesterday and started first thing in the morning.  It’s not a dramatic change by any means but it feels fresh and new.  You may know we put up the wall mural a few weeks ago.  Next we need some toddler furniture but I am in no rush for him to be out of the crib!!

first measurement smaller

Painting also enabled me to put up his ‘measurement’ decal I purchased from etsy.com a few months ago.  OMG – what a PAIN IN THE … but I think it’s pretty cute.  We used it last night for the first time.  35″!

This Saturday morning I helped watch our babysitters daughter while she moved – and ‘wow’ 2 toddlers are BUSY!  They also run pretty fast.  In opposite directions.  How does Kate Gosslin do it?  We had fun though and it gave me new appreciation for our sitter :)

Look at the size of Ty compared to Kenna (they are 1 month apart)

Ty and I went up to MD this weekend – which fell on the weekend of the chuck county fair – yea!  Ty’s first fair.  He had the best time EVER.  Threw a tantrum every time the ride stopped.  Dusty, dirty, sticky, sweaty – it was great :) DSCF0007

We boughts Ty’s boots LAST weekend and he has yet to take them off – even wanting to sleep in them!  They must be hot and swety in this weather – and they make him walk funny – but he loves them.

We didn’t do too much this weekend (compared to usual) – still doing home improvements every second we get.  Our master bedroom is finally shaping up due to a new coat of paint, selling the hideous goth ceiling fam on craigslist ($50!) and replacing with new light, new blinds and a new large mirror ($12 flea market!)  I also went to a large kids consignment sale on Saturday at the State Fair Grounds – what a cluster.  I have never seen more people in need or an extreme makeover in my life – sorry.  Just because you have kids DOES NOT give you an excuse to look like a homeless person!  I got some good deals on winter clothes for Ty including some snow boots :)

I took Ty to Monkey Joe’s yesterday – it has been a few months since he has been there.  I felt like I was there for 6 hours; I was seriously drenched in sweat, back hurting, arms hurting.. I got out to the car and realized we were there for 45 minutes!   He absolutely LOVED every second of it and only wanted to go on the biggest slides over and over and OVER.  But he can’t get up the ladder himself (hence my arms hurting.)  The smile on his face was all worth it!
