Jason, Ty & I have been so busy the past 2 weeks with work, swim lessons and trying to get into a routine. So all we needed was our current nanny giving us 1 week notice this past weekend. Hurray! Not.
That’s OK though – just ‘gotta roll with it. I knew from other experiences that it usually doesn’t work out the first time around. But we have been in a blind panic trying to find the ‘right’ person this time – now that we know more about what we are looking for for Ty and our family. I think we have found her.. well, them

Ty and I have been going 2x per week for evening swim lessons and he is doing fab. Considering I am NOT a water baby and can barely keep myself afloat – I am constantly amazed at each lesson how much he loves it. Me, not so much. Just a quick visual for you.. Me; shouldn’t be in a swimsuit, majorly needs a tan, mascara running down my face while trying to hold on to a 30 lb. squealing, splashing, slippery piglet intent on soaking me with freezing cold water and trying to swallow his body weight in chlorinated water. Sounds fun, eh? Here are some pics…

Did I mention there are only 4 babies in the class including us? 2 boys and 2 girls. 1 boy refuses to even get in the water and the 2 dainty little girls HATE being splashed or getting wet. Ty is pretty much cannonballing on their prissy butts! He is not very popular.

I am so glad for 09 Baby! I know this is going to be the year of the Handley. I can feel it. Seriously. Last year was the roughest of our lives – and I am glad to see ‘08 be gone. 2009 feels like CHANGE!
I am still pumped about the New year – can you tell? Even though ushering in 2009 was no fun in our house (I had an iv in my arm) due to a terrible flu bug… we are still on track with our resolution for major change in the Handley House. But let’s start with a Holiday recap…
Ty’s 2nd Christmas – but this one is in Maryland!
We all had a great Christmas (first one in America in 4 years!) in Maryland with my parents. Jason only had 1 day off for xmas so he had a really quick turnaround – but we all had a really nice visit. The Angle’s are known for over-the-top Christmas presents – and this year was no exception. Which brings me to Resolution #1 - stop being such a consumer. I am all more, more, more and that is going to stop in 2009. Do I need 50 pairs of shoes? 20 pair of jeans? 5 sets of sheets? no.
Also included in this resolution is taking things to Goodwill (we took a load on Sunday doing charity work and recycling more. Can I challenge you to do the same??!
Yesterday Ty & I started his first swimming lessons! I was pretty nervous about how this could go – seeing my own fear of the water as a child – but he did wonderfully. I need for Jason to come to a few classes so I can get some better pictures and video of him enjoying the water. It’s pretty hard to use a camera while hanging on to a hysterically excited and splashing toddler. By the time our 30 minutes were up I had mascara running down my face, Ty had puked in the pool from the excitement and he was totally exhausted. Mission accomplished.
