Yea – Auntie Pammy is here! And just in the nick of time. I think I was headed for a sleep depravation meltdown. Ty is just not really into sleeping… wonderful. Thank goodness he does nap a bit during the day so I can try and catch up on some sleep then. But his pattern of sleep are emerging and he will not do more than a 2 hour stretch of sleep. ugh. So last night was 11, 1, 3, 5 then up at 6:00 am pretty much. This is NOT cool! But it’s fab that Pam is able to take him for a walk in the morning so I can get some more sleep. I swear I am going to throw away her passport so she is unable to leave me.
This is probably also partly my fault for not really attempting any sort of schedule for him yet. We just take him with us whenever and wherever. At least he is getting use to sleeping in bars and restaurants! We took him to Morton’s last Friday for dinner & drinks with Pam & some friends…
Last night we took Pam to our local Indian resturant and he made it through dinner but then started to lose it so Jason took him home. Pam & I stayed for drinks (thank you Jason!) and walked home later. Of course as soon as Jason left – the men folk descended on Pam. She pulled in some real winners last night… one guy with an enormous fake diamond earinng (he was about 40 btw) started talking to her about America (of course as soon as they hear the accents they think we are even easier prey) and started asking her about the population of Michigan?! what?! She lept saying ‘I don’t know – I have never been to Michigan,’ and he was like, ‘but it’s in America!!‘ It was highly entertaining.
Ty had decided to do his 6 week growth spurt a little early. The last week has been really rough on Jason and I (mainly me) because he has decided to feed every hour. That’s every hour on the hour. Talk about exhaustion. Monday we took him to the health visitor (like the midwife) to check it out and she put his butt on the scale. Just under 11 pounds!!! This cannot continue or he will be wearing Jason’s clothes by summertime. And Jason and I will both be insane from sleep depravation. He was doing so well for a few weeks – I was actually lulled into believing we had a little routine going. But Ty says ‘NOT!’
Ty’s first trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon
Standing up (seriously – we were barely helping!) – 4 weeks
We also had Jason’s mom & sister here visiting this week which was fun. Too bad the weather was totally disgusting and we barely left the house – but it was a nice visit anyhow! And my sister arrives in the UK on Friday so that will be awesome as well.
Both Jason & I keep trying to figure out who Ty really looks like… I think the pics below prove it’s Jason! Thanks again Dianne for sending them – they are so cute & funny.
Wow, where is the time going? I can’t believe it is mid-January already. My mother-in-law, Dianne and sister-in-law, Carrie arrive in the UK on Thursday so we are all excited about that. And then my sis arrives pretty much the day that they leave! It’s going to be fun and interesting month. Just wishing that the weather would improve – as you can only imagine – the UK in January makes you want to kill yourself.
Ty and I played with the camera a bit today trying to get a decent shot without eye boogers, vomit or some other bodily fluid happening. I think we did pretty well! We also finally had success with the Baby Bjorn today. I have been putting him in it for about 5 minutes per day to try and get him used to it. Well, today he was dead asleep so I gently put him in it – took him and the dogs for a walk ’round the hood and made it back before he even woke up. So pretty much he has to be comatose for it to work.
Well, today pretty much concludes the first week at my new position. I am not quite sure if I am fully qualified and the pay stinks – but I don’t think quitting is an option. I am of course referring to my new role of ‘Mom.’ Jason went back to work Monday and I am struggling to come to terms with the fact that this is my new life. It’s not as though I lived some glamorous jet-setting life style before, but I did spend quite alot of time getting my hair done, having massages, shopping and traveling. Basically doing lots of things for ME. I am quickly realizing that this former life is OVER. Done. Finished. Deep down, I am OK with this. I knew that that life couldn’t last forever – not would I want it to. But I am still in a bit of shock of how drastically things have changed and so quickly. Today my big accomplishment was getting the baby poop stain out of the couch. I am still in my pajamas. I have not washed my hair. But Ty is fed and happy, and maybe tomorrow I can squeeze in that shower…
My 3 horizontal babies
On a totally non-child related note… does anyone else love Heroes as much as I do?! I think I almost love it as much as Lost! Jason and I just finished watching the 1st series last night and I am totally hooked. I always do this – get suckered into some show for like 5 years. Like the Sopranos. I cannot wait for the 2nd season. Jason and I were having a debate on which superhuman power of the characters you would most like to have.. I think either the flying or the invisible power. Definitely NOT hearing other people thoughts – that would be awful!
Like everyone else on earth – we made fitness part of our New Year resolution again this year. Jason vowed to gain every pound that I lose! Yeah right. Apparently Ty is getting into the spirit of things as well….
And his gym outfit (put together by Jason obviously) included enormous Nike’s
I hope everyone had a nice & safe News Years Eve last night – I am sure you all stayed up later then we did I think it is probably the first New Years Eve since I was 11 that I didn’t make it until mignight. But then again – I was up again at 3 am, 6 am, 9 am – you get the picture. We tried Ty on his first bottle last night since Mommy wanted to have some champagne (finally!) and he did wonderfully. Well, wonderfully if you enjoy projectile vomit.
I am 2 weeks old!
Jason and I still have yet to write down our resolutions for 2008. I am sure they will include the usual; work out more, eat healthier, live cheaper, etc. Sounds stupid to continue to make the same resolutions each year – but I think we really do achieve them for the most part. We are so much healthier then when we rang in 2007. Then again – being pregnant for almost 10 months did help that. And hey, we have been smoke free for 11 months now!
2007 was a great year for us; we started it with a week long trip to Egypt…
Then in March, Pam & Richard came to visit and we took a birthday (mine!) trip to Sardinia, Italy for the weekend
Then in April Kyle came to visit and we went to Dublin for a few nights
in May I stayed with Pam in FL for a week while Jason took his annual trip to Orlando with Enterprise for work.
in August I went to Charleston, SC with my mom & pam to check out Pam’s wedding venue
Then it pretty much became to uncomfortable for me to travel! Hopefully 2008 will bring more adventures for us. First up? We already have flights booked for February to Maryland to visit. I am going with Ty first (transferring planes in Amsterdam – so his first passport stamp?) and then Jason will join me 2 weeks later. Jason is taking a quick weekend trip to Vegas with some of the guys in March – watch out. And then – who knows!
