A few pics from our ‘girly baby afternoon’ on Tuesday… thanks so much Aysel, Nav, Kate & Lisa! I am still recovering from the ’suger shock’ and lovely gifts. I have been eating leftover brownies and biscuit cake all day and can’t figure out why i have a stomach ache!

Thank Nav! You are the best henna artist!

Hope you all have enjoyed good times with family and food! Another week has flown by for us – we can’t figure out where on earth the time is going. Last Sunday was the American Expat Thanksgiving dinner that we make sure never to miss. Atleast we got to have some turkey & stuffing (and pumpkin pie!!) – but it will never be as good as Mom’s, right? We also had our first snow last week which was pretty cool.
Hitting the 38 week mark has made us even more determined this weekend to accomplish as much as possible. How can something so small require so much preparation!? So today we have finally gotten the carseat & base in and installed, the nursery pretty much completed, and the Christmas decorations are going up as I write. I love getting out the Christmas decorations – all the ornaments your haven’t seen for a year, books, puzzles (of course Jason thinks the sheer volume of decorations we have is “completely ridiculous”
) all while watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, of course!
And speaking of being all ready – I am pretty much ready as well. I am kinda at that point where I am done being pregnant. I am ready to put on regular shoes again – hey, being able to reach my feet would be nice! I never thought it was possible to feel this cumbersome and LARGE. And what’s up with being so HOT all the time? So anytime now, Ty…

People always said to me that the last 4 weeks of pregnancy draaaag on forever… I disagree! I cannot find enough time in the day to get everything done! This has been a busy and productive week for us. Tuesday I had to sit for my ‘driving theory test’ (something required before you take the driving part) – which luckily I passed! One more step to driving (legally). We also had another midwife appt. which was great. Ty is back to being ‘head down’ (thank goodness!) and is still growing well – not long now.
We also had out first (and last) Baby/Parenthood class at the hospital on Wednesday. We did want to go for the tour – info on visiting times, secret entrances, rules, etc. But I don’t think we will be going back for the other 2 – there is no need with all the reading we have done!
And yesterday I had a surprise baby shower! So that was a really nice way to round out a crazy week! We got some amazing gifts – had some amazing cake (my craving
) – and have some amazing friends. Thank you guys! A few pics…especially of my fave part – cake!

Today I am just a bit overwhelmed about where to put all these great gifts! Our house isn’t what you would consider large. This kid has more stuff than I do! (I am not even kidding) Poor Jason is coming down with the ‘lurgy’ everyone else seems to have here – so other than the football game on tv tonight – we will not be doing much. This Sunday is our American-expat group’s annual Thanksgiving dinner – and we are really looking forward to that!
If I can get the nursery a little neater – I will add more pics

OUCH! MY FEET REALLY HURT THIS MORNING.
Not wearing heels when you are 36 weeks pregnant is probably common sense to most people – but not to me. I have learned my lesson as I set here staring at my bread loaf sized feet this morning. Last night was the last black-tie event I should have to go to until Ty comes – but I am paying for it today! I am going to put my very swollen feet up and watch Jason assemble all our IKEA purchases from yesterday
. Here are a few pics – more to come…

It’s cold out, man! Winter is officially upon us I believe. Tonight they are talking of snow showers in Scotland.. I know that is quite a ways from us.. well, I guess it’s only the eqivalent of a state or 2 away! And I am dying to put up the Christmas lights, but Jason says Thanksgiving time. Thank goodness one of us has some sense. DeNiro and I took a nice fall walk in the cold today - nothing like autumn in the Northeast or anything, but pretty in it’s own way..

and a 35 1/2 week (large) belly shot for ya

You can’t tell from the sideways shot above – but our little Ty has decided to do a little ‘nesting’ himself this week and move womb. He has been head down the past 2 months and just this weekend decided that sideways (transverse) would be more interesting. Obviously he still has time to move into the correct position – but it’s a bit unnerving (as well as uncomfortable). I have a midwife appt. on Tuesday next week so we will wait and see what she has to say. I don’t really fancy them manually turning him (ouch!).

How on earth can such a tiny room take so long to finish?! I guess it’s finding all the right tiny furniture to fit in it. After a loong trip to IKEA once again this morning to complete the room – the 2 items we went for are out of stock. ARG!
Still in progress…

and a few pics from our diaper purchasing & practicing from yesterday…

Star was very helpful. NOT. Happy Sunday!

Where has the time gone!? Sometimes it feels like I have been pregnant FOREVER, but I still can’t believe we will have a baby in a few weeks. Eek! We had a bit of a panic/wake-up call this week when I had to go into the hospital unexpectedly. Everything is OK – don’t worry
! But sitting there in the hospital we realized we don’t have any bags packed, birth plan, help with the dogs, no car seat, etc.! Time to get movin’.
So we are spending this weekend making sure we are ready for Ty’s arrival – whenever that may be. We went to the ‘chemist’ this morning to purchase our first ‘nappies,’ which was funny. And you know we had to come home and try them on the dogs (this was not easy due to the squirming and biting).
We also got our ‘belly shots’ pictures back from the photographer yesterday. A woman who came into my salon actually asked me to model for her to use for her portfolio – and my pics would be free (jackpot!). They turned out OK – all I wanted were a few good ones before I got too HUGE (like now) to remember how pretty pregnancy can be.

And as I am sitting here typing – he is karate chopping me in the side to keep movin’! Bye for now…
